As a die-hard fan of the New York Mets, I am obviously displeased with the current state of affairs in the organization. Loyal fans are rewarded daily with reports in the newspapers of dissention and disorganization within the front office.
The Mets, at this point in time, are the laughing stock of Major League Baseball. Something needs to change. Too much money is being spent on payroll for this team to lose two out of three games to the Washington Nationals, the team with the worst record in all of baseball. Yet, that is what happened recently. Undoubtedly, fans are outraged.
However, this is not about what occurs on the playing field. I believe that the root of all of the problems stem from the front office and ownership. Everything is a trickle-down effect. Tony Bernazard was fired. That was a step. More needs to happen. I am still angry.
Mets fans need to show solidarity in their outrage. That is why, on September 8, Mets fans are going to come together and leave the stands of Citi Field empty--laying fallow, if you will--in a protest against the current state of affairs in the Mets organization. Surely, if the stadium is empty, Mets ownership will open their eyes.
