So why are you advocating fans to cause the Mets to lose money by boycotting a game?
As I said, I am a Mets fan. The small amount of money that the Mets might lose from an empty Citi Field on September 8 is inconsequential as compared to the huge amounts of embarassment they are currently receiving.
What?
If the stadium is empty for just one game, people will notice. ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, the blogosphere...everybody will notice. This will cause Mets' brass to notice. See the domino effect? Did you ever imagine that you would have such a large impact on the future of the Mets?
So what can I do?
DON'T GO TO THE GAME ON SEPTEMBER 8.
Are you refunding my tickets for that game?
No, sorry. You'll take a hit, I guess. But on the bright side, know that you will be helping to turn the direction of the Mets around.
Are there any other ways for me to hang out with Mets fans during this time?
I suggest calling all your friends and having a viewing party at someone's house or your favorite pub. Let everyone know that you are there because you are boycotting Citi Field. And remember, friends won't let friends be caught at Citi Field on September 8!
